HISTORY OF GARDEN EXPO

The Garden Expo is the only event just about gardening for the entire Inland Northwest. The last Garden Expo was in May 2006 and had 256 vendors and attendance was over 12,000!

The first Garden Expo in Spokane, WA was held April 1999. It was a modest affair with 23 vendors and 350 people in attendance for a few hours in the evening. The first Expo was such an success, the organizations (the Inland Empire Gardeners) knew they had to expand on the concept so in May 2000 the Garden Expo moved to the Spokane Community College with room for over 90 vendors. Over 2,000 people attended the second Expo. The third Garden Expo was in May 2001 and had 135 garden-related vendors and was attended by over 5,000 gardeners.

The following organizations supported Garden Expo 2006:
The Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane, CASA Partners Bee-Kind Garden, Coeur d'Alene Garden Club, Inland Empire District Garden Clubs of WSFMC, Inland Empire Water Garden & Koi Society, Inland Empire Dahlia Society, Inland Northwest Garden Railroad Society, Rural Roots, SCC Horticulture Club, Spokane Farmer's Market Association, Spokane Floral Association, Spokane Lilac Society, Spokane Parks and Recreation, Spokane Regional Solid Waste System, Spokane Tilth, Heritage Garden Trust, SNAP Living Green, The Washington Sustainable Food and Farming Network, and WSU Master Gardeners.
